Ryan Plourde

Ryan is originally from Maine but grew up in Colorado. He has played sports his entire life, finishing his formal athletic career as a student-athlete at the University of Redlands. His life has revolved around sports- starting as an athlete and then as a coach and now as a career; though he still plays and coaches.

For the past 10 years, Ryan has worked both domestically and internationally in a variety of capacities. He was a Peace Corps volunteer in Ethiopia where he started to work with Grassroots Soccer to implement the program throughout the country. After working with GRS for 3 years, Ryan moved to Colorado as the Program Director for Soccer Without Borders, an organization that uses the power of soccer to work with refugee youth in the United States.

This incredibly rewarding and inspiring work led Ryan to his current position as a Program Officer for FHI360, working as part of a dynamic team that oversees the Sports Visitor and Sports Envoy programs. In this capacity, he works with coaches and youth athletes from all over the world to put together sports-based exchange programs that bring people together through the wonderful power of sports.

Why a podcast?

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
